This website will give some information about the life and the works of the composer and musician Julius Röntgen (1855-1932). For extended information we also refer to the official website www.juliusrontgen.nl (only in Dutch language). In the year 2005 the Röntgen Family celebrated the 150th birthday of their famous family member. He was born in Leipzig (Germany). In many Dutch concert halls, in the Dutch classical radio and by many Dutch organisations concerning classical music this event was celebrated too. Several new CD’s were published in that year and the years afterwards. A new scientific biography by Jurjen Vis (Phd.) was published in December 2007. Röntgen borrowed the motto ‘Sentendo Nuova Forza’ (Italian for: feeling new force) from the string quartet in a minor Opus 132 of Beethoven. He used this as a heading for his last composition, the piano quintet in g major. It’s a symbol for his optimistic view of life.
